When I found Wispr Flow, it looked perfect. $14 a month, local Whisper processing, no variable costs, worked exactly how I thought about voice dictation. Then I realized it was Mac-only, and the whole mental model collapsed.
The Mac-first pattern
Every premium voice tool launches Mac-first. Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Otter.ai, Superwhisper, Krisp. The assumption is always: serious creators work on Mac. Windows users get a web demo or a half-featured fallback, if anything. It's been this way for 10 years.
Wispr Flow's actual pitch
Wispr Flow is genuinely solid. It runs Whisper locally, no monthly word cap, no metering, polishes a rough draft into clean text in under 2 seconds. The $14 monthly price is honest: you own the processing, no API costs. It's the best-designed premium voice writing tool I've tested. It's also a Mac app.
The Windows gap
Here's the problem: I draft a cold email to a design partner maybe six times before sending. Each rewrite is just a little more polish, just a bit clearer. On Mac, Wispr would cut those iterations by 40%. On Windows, I don't have that option. So I type. So it takes 15 minutes instead of five.
Multiply that by Thursday mornings, when I batch out a week of cold emails and social posts. That hour shrinks if the tool existed for me. But it doesn't.
What Recitey does differently
Recitey works on Windows because it was built for Windows. It runs locally via Whisper, no word cap, no metering. Works in Slack, email, browsers, terminal, every Windows app via the clipboard. No new login, no new tab, no extra friction.

If you're a solo founder on Thursday mornings, speed is the only math that works.
Wispr Flow is a great app for Mac users. The rest of us just needed someone to build the thing for the platform we actually use.
